Our Adoption Process

1.  We require that you fill out the adoption application
so we can get to know you a little better.

2.  You will need a valid driver's license and must be 21
years or older to be an applicant or co-applicant

3.  Have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in
     the household.

4.  Have pet approval from owner of residence  (written in
     lease) if you rent.

5.  Proof of residency if you own (i.e., tax bill/deed or mortgage
       bill and recent utility bill).

6.  All pets living in the household must be current on rabies shots and registered as
     mandated by law.

7.    Adopter is willing to allow an Angels On Wheels Animal Rescue Representative perform
     a pre-adoption home visit and/or a Representative to make an adoption follow-up,
either in person or by telephone.

8.  Once you have picked out your new companion and

you are ready to adopt, an Adoption Contract will

need to be signed prior to taking your new pet

home.  This is done at the time you visit with our

animals, and after you have chosen your new best

friend.  It includes a mandatory vet visit with your

new pet within five days of adoption.

9. If at any time you are unable to keep the pet, or

unable to provide it with proper care, the animal must

be offered back to Angels On Wheels before making

other arrangements.  We take our adoptions very

seriously, once an animal has been adopted, there will

be no refunds.  Be sure when you adopt that you can

make a committment both finanically and personally

to these animals for their entire lives.

We have the right to refuse any applicant/adopter at anytime for any reason.  We have the right to the change adoption fees on any animal without prior notification at any time.  Spaying and neutering is a non-negotiable part of the adoption contract, and we pay for the surgery if not already done.   For obvious reasons we can't hold any animal for any reason at any time.

This couple recently adopted 9 week old Bones, what a great match.  He is going to be the best smelling and best looking pup around.  Brittney is one of the Romeoville Petco Groomers.  Since Petco Is Where The Pets Go, Brittney will be bringing Bones to work on some days.  Stop by and say hi to them, see how well socialized our puppies are, meet the Petco Grooming Staff, then schedule an appointment and pamper your pet.

Angels On Wheels Animal Rescue has partnered with Dr. Walley, 815-744-3540, Crest Hill Cat and Dog Clinic located at 2351 Copper Court (corner of Weber and Caton Farm Rd.) in Crest Hill,  IL.

Dr. Walley is offering your first pet exam free with any pet adopted through Angels On Wheels Animal Rescue.

If you currently have a pet that is not spayed or neutered, please contact us, we may be able to helpOur vet, Crest Hill Cat and Dog Clinic, works with Spay Illinois.

Please be aware that it is common after you bring your new pet home, minor post adoption illnesses can occur such as:  Upper respiratory infection (coughing, sneezing and runny nose), or diarrhea can devlope.  This is very common with the stress of a new environment and the change in food.

Most puppies and kittens are born with worms.  All puppies and kittens are dewormed upon arrival, and continue a regular deworm schedule while in our care.  Most will need to be dewormed several times to be sure they are gone.  After adoption, your new pet must be examined by a vet within five days to put on a vaccination and deworming schedule and a fecal test performed.  This is the expense of the new family and is a normal part of pet maintenance.

So who looks happier?  the Adoptive Family or the Adopted Dog?  What a great family, mom and the eldest sister missed this visit, but are just as happy.  Charlie is a five month old Collie/Golden Mix.  What a great disposition this pup had, and what a great match.  A nice laid back family matched with a nice laid back puppy.  Thank you for adopting instead of buying.

This mom and daughter came looking to adopt one male kitten.  They just couldn't decide between these two babies, and they didn't have the heart to seperate them so they adopted them both...who by the way were both females.  Yea never know who you may will fall in love with.  Broaden your adoption search, you may be pleasantly surprised.

This family knew they wanted to add a new addition to their family.  Well dad  came into Petco to buy a Goldfish, saw Polo (on the left) and loved him. Dad went home to get his wife, and she also fell in love with him.  Now this beautiful puppy is living the good life with a fenced in yard, a little girl to play with and mom who is home all day to teach him right from wrong...I don't think they ever got the goldfish.
