We will be doing our next adoption event at Petco in Bolinbrook on the SE corner of Weber and Boughton Road on Saturday, July 24th from 11:30 - 3:30.   Come see us, and our some of the happy animals we have up for adoption!  You can make an appointment at anytime to see any of our animals which are all being all being cared for in foster homes.  Non of our animals are caged, but socialized with loving families.

Angels on Wheels Animal Rescue is a Non-Profit, Illinois State Licensed, Dog and Cat Rescue, and we have been granted our 501(c)(3) Tax Exempt Status.  You will be able to find us on Petfinder, Adopt-a-pet and many other web sites.

We are a foster-based adoption organization composed of a group of animal loving volunteers saving animals from death row and giving them a second chance at life.   No one gets paid for the work they do, just the gratification that some will be saved from a very cruel death and find loving homes.  These animals are confused, frightened, and don't understand why the people they trusted and loved have abandoned them. We work with many of the staff and volunteers in many states at these facilities as well as other rescuers, who work endless hours getting the animals to safe places. Transporting these animals is a huge part of rescue, and help is always needed with transportation.  We always need foster homes to help us save more.  We can only save as many as we have room for.  Email us if you are interested in learning more about fostering a rescued puppy or kitten.  The four month puppy above was brought up from Southern Illinois who had the sweetest personality.  Can't believe they were going to euthanize her.  She has since gone to her forever home, and is living happily.

Kitten season is upon us, and many very young kittens come into our rescue.  Sadly many do not make it.   Fosters home are in great need to save these babeis and give them time to grow up before being placed up for adoption.

Puppy Season is always upon us, and adult dogs are always needing a rescue.  We need more foster homes to help them.  The more foster homes we have, the more babies we can save.  Can you HELP?

A very Warm Welcome to our newest Angel...Dale...pictured below with his airplane and a few of the puppies he helped to rescue for Angels On Wheels Animal Rescue.  Dale donates his time, fuel and airplane to fly animals that are on death row from areas that are too far for our volunteers to drive.  He picks them up at the local airport, then transports them in his aircraft to Lewis University air field where we meet him.  THANK YOU DALE for picking up these puppies along with their mother and five other siblings.  You have earned another set of wings!

Below is a picture of our adoption days at the Petco Store in Bolingbrook  with a few high school girls earning community service hours.  The girls are pictured with our rescued kittens and our traffic stopper, Red Ruff.  A huge thank you to Petco and the wonderful employees who continuously help and support us.  Petco is definately where pets come first.

We believe every animal deserves a second chance to live a life. We are committed to finding the right home for each baby, assuring they have wonderful families to love them as we have.

Max (Above) is truly a great rescue story.  Max was a very shy, very scared one year old black lab mix that was rescued just in the nick of time from a high kill shelter in Indiana.  Max came to Angels on Wheels to gain some confidence while awaiting his forevery family.  Max was looking for a family that understood he would need a lot of love and patience to gain his trust.  This wonderfully family adopted Max understanding some of the challenges they were  faced with.  These great kids and there folks have definately earned their wings.  Max has been blessed with not only a second chance to have a life, but a devoted, loving family to go with it.  Thank you so much for adopting...Max will always hold a very special place in our hearts.  Thank you for your continued efforts and updates.

Our goal is to educate the public on; understanding that pet ownership is a privilege and commitment, the importance of spaying and neutering, puppy mill awareness, and  providing pet owners with helpful information during these tough economic times with CHOICES other then surrendering with low cost vaccine clinics, and free training classes.

These babies were waiting in the arms of a volunteer before being put on transport from a High Kill Shelter in Kentucky headed for our rescue.  Adoptions are very low in this area, and without rescue, these babies were doomed to be euthanized.  All were adopted within a week once they were put up for adoption to wonderful families.Thank you again to everyone for thinking of adoption first. You saved lives!

This happy family adopted Destiny.  Destiny now has a big fenced in back yard to grow up in, which she will need considering she is a Red Heeler.  Dad was once in the military serving our county and is now safe at home with his family, and has completed his service.  They received a $25.00 discount on the adoption of Destiny for his valiant services.  Please support our troops.

This lovely couple adopted Beauty, a Great Dane/Lab mix that we rescued from a high kill shelter in Indiana.  Dad is an EMT saving lives and mom works at Children's Memorial Hospital savings lives.  What great heroes these folks are.  They continue savings lives even though this time it wasn't human.  EMT, Police and Firefighters all qualify for a $25.00 discount for protecting us.  Thank you for all that you do for us.

This wonderful family adopted this beautiful kitten who came in from a high kill shelter in KY with ringworm, actually a fungas like athletes foot.  They fell in love with her, and now she is in a loving home finishing the rest of her treatment.  Thank you so much for seeing how special this little kitten is, and providing her with such a fantastic home.

This may not be the best picture taken from my blackberry phone, but this is one of the best families.  This wonderful dog was rescued the day he was suppose to be euthanized at animal control.  Because this family adopted instead of buying, they made room in our rescue for another dog we took in just after this photo was taken that was also doomed to be euthanized.  Thank you so much for adopting. You saved TWO LIVES!

This family lost their cat several years ago, and had been looking for TWO years to find the right addition to their family.  They bought the cat carrier, toys, blankets, bedding etc. everything they needed, all that was missing was that very special kitty.  We are honored they selected one of our rescued kitties to add to their family.  Thank you for adopting Oxford, he has been waiting for you, as you him!

All of these wonderful people below adopted these beautiful babies even though they had mange.  They did their homework when the pups were adopted in the early stages off mange, and came prepared to adopt.  That is committment, love, loyalty and a real rescue adoption.  The medicine was sent home with all of these wonderful families along with instructions so the pups could continue to receive their treatments.  Thank you for seeing that these babies are beautiful and perfect even though they had a medical condition and hair loss.

This beautiful puppy is a Parvo survivor.  She came in with three of her sisters and spent many days at the vet fighting for their lives.  Sadley we lost one.  It is very, very expensive to care for these babies when they get sick and donations are always needed to help with the vet bill.  Any donation can be mailed to 3611 Lawrence Drive, Naperville, IL  60564.  Thank you for your support.

With heavy hearts we mourn the ones that we could not save, and try to save the next in hopes hat others will find forever homes. Rest baby, you are safe now.   The scared little 3 pound puppies in the picture above was taken at the animal control facility they were rescued from.  These babies were rescued by Angels On Wheels and now have wonderful families of their own to love them as they should be.

PLEASE DON'T BUY FROM A PET STORE OR BREEDER WHEN THOUSANDS OF SHELTER PETS DIE EVERY DAY.

The baby below was adopted along with her brother, and are living a good life together.  The picture was taken when we took the baby off transport from a Kentucky AC.

Every day 10,000 humans are born in the U.S. and each day 70,000 puppies and kittens are also born.  As long as these birth rates exist, there will never be enough homes for all of the animals.  As a result, millions of healthy, loving cats, dogs, kittens and puppies face early deaths as a form of animal control.  Others are left to fend for themselves against automobiles, the elements, other animal and cruel humans.  You can help just by spaying and neutering your pets, don't ever buy from a pet store, as almost every one of them uses some form of a pupy mill, and remind people to support and ADOPT from a shelter or rescue.

Shelter animals are very affectionate, forgiving, loyal companions just crying for someone to hold and love them.  Please join us in the fight to save their lives by getting more and more of these babies adopted and fewer put to sleep!.  Please encourage spaying and neutering!

Did you know that black dogs, puppies, cats and kittens have the highest rate and sometimes the first in line to be put down?  This is know as the Black Dog or Cat Syndrome.

If you think you can watch this, it is a video of what is still happening today in some of the high kill facilities that we get our rescued animals from, specifically those that use gas to euthanize. This video is truly what drove me to take another step towards doing more for these helpless animals.

These babies were all brought into our rescue from a high kill shelter in Southern Illinois where they had a doomed fate.  They have all since found their forever homes and got their second chance.

"So "Smany innocent faces full of hope. So many pets are euthanized at animal control facilities (dog pounds). Why?  Because they had no home, no one to love and care for them.  Many of these pets once had homes, but for whatever reason, their families surrendered them to animal control.  Most of the very young kittens and puppies were born because of irresponsible pet owners who did not bother to spay or neuter their pets.  Please consider what it means to be a responsible pet owner -- spay and neuter your pets and know that when you adopt a pet, you are making a COMMITMENT to that pet for the rest of its life."

Please Remember: when you adopt you will be saving TWO LIVES;  the one you just adopted and the one YOU JUST MADE ROOM FOR.  If you can't adopt, donations are greatly appreciated, volunteers are always welcome, and foster homes are urgently needed.

Thank you for visiting and please feel free to contact us anytime either by email, sspratl@gmail.com or 630-863-3474.

Thank you Sandy for taking in Shelley (below), especially since it was 2:00 a.m. when we finally arrived...sorry!  Shelley was saved just before her time was up, and was placed in a wonderful foster home.  Well the foster mom is so wonderful and Shelley is so wonderful, that Shelley found her forever home...exactly where she is.

 GET INVOLVED,
THERE ARE MANY WAYS!
See our Adoption Information page for a list of animals you can save today by adopting, or our You Can Halp Section.  If you are interested in getting involved with fostering  animals too young to be adopted, or others that are awaiting their forever homes, please contact us.

We can save more moms and their babies from being euthenized with more foster homes, like the mom above we rescued.  Please email us if you can open your home and heart to save more. Angels on Wheels pays for all the medical expenses, they just need a place to grow up to have a chance for life.

Thank you everyone for opening your hearts to help in many, many ways.  Almost every photo on this website are babies that were saved through Angels On Wheels Animal Rescue, with the help of many wonderful Angels that I now call friends.

The beautiful smiling dog above was rescued by a great family who contacted us wanting to add a new dog to their family.    They were looking for a dog that was between 1-4 years old, medium size, and good with children.  For days we looked through emails of animals needing rescue and inquired on many.  After seeing Bentley and getting information on him, we felt he was a good match for this family.   We sent them photos and a bio on him.  They loved him instantly.  One of our great volunteers drove a 5 hour round trip to get him from a high kill shelter in Indiana to bring him up this way.  He was sent to the vet for neutering, shots, treated with Revolution for fleas, heartworm tested, dewormed and rabies vaccinated, then spent some time in a foster home to evaluate him.  When mom and dad finally got to meet him, they thought Bentley was more than they could have ever expected.  He was waiting under the Christmas tree when the kids woke up Christmas morning.  What a great ending for this wonderful soul that was going to be destroyed.  Thank you for giving Bentley the BEST Christmas ever.

Thank you again to all of our wonderful Angels:  Petco, Dr. Walley and Dr. Ling at Crest Hill Cat and Dog Clinic 815-744-3540,  Jessica Parker for everything she did to help out with the website, Johanna our  Bolingbrook Petco Dog Trainer for fostering some of our more difficult dogs training them to get them ready for a new family, and to everyone who adopted, donated, fostered, transported and volunteered their time during 2009.  Together we all saved a lot of lives, and put smiles are many wonderful faces.  You all earned your wings.

Pictured below is Carrie, one of the wonderful staff members at Crest Hill Cat and Dog Clinic located on the SW corner of Weber and Caton Farm Road, our partner Vet.  Many things in life are uncertain...one thing that is certain is that you will always see a smile when you walk through the door at Crest Hill Cat and Dog Clinic.  It was a pleasure to be able to adopt one of our puppies to Carrie.

This wonderful adopter drove all the way from Oklahoma to adopt Blaze...he had the best reference ever...Dr. Walley is his father.  Blaze was blessed to find such a wonderful companion and a great home.  Thank you soooo much for adopting him and giving him the love he deserves. Can't wait to see you all again when you come to visit!
